Marine Engineering Technicians
Marine engineering technicians aid in building, convert, repair and service ships, offshore platforms, other sea structures and the apparatus installed on them. They use a variety of tools and engineering skills, dependent on the actual sector.These may include cutting and welding, mechanical and electric upkeep and electronic apparatus installation.
Marine engineering technicians may work at sea :
* on the gear used to explore the seabed for oil, gas and minerals
* on the operation and upkeep of offshore platforms and the hardware used to extract materials from the sea
* using underwater craft, known as remotely operated cars ( ROVs ) to check undersea pipelines keep the engines, kit and systems running correctly

* shipmaking and ship fix
* making expert clobber for boats
* maintaining a fleet of leisure vessels for vacation and charter corporations
* checking sea safety for coastguard agencies.
Marine engineering technicians frequently work in groups under the direction of a pro engineer.
