Marine Scientist

The Marine Scientist is a pro science book which is produced on as a quarterly publication, and has been investigated and penned by people with a treasure house of experience in the maritime field. It makes necessary reading for those working in sea technology and science disciplines including oceanographers, sea chemists, geoscientists, hydrographers, ecologists, sea management and policy markers.

The Marine Scientist will constantly contain reports, research, discussions

and perspectives from the scientific community, reader letters, interviews, job ads, and sea science meetings around the world. The book is also not scared to covers some of the newest questionable subjects ,eg global warming, declining fish stocks, and rising sea levels, but with a well-balanced point of view.

They analyse the sea and its interplay with the land, atmosphere and sea floors and use the info gained to foretell changes to the earth's structure, inform legal legislation and inspire environmental protection. Sea science is a broad-ranging field that covers subjects as diversified as :

* coastal processes
* geology and geophysics
* sea biology
* oceanography, sea modelling and predicting
* zoology
* paleo-oceanography
* biogeochemistry and ecosytems dynamics
* hydrographic surveying.

Sea scientists are employed by schools, world organisations, commercial firms, governmental agencies, not-for-profit organisations and sea research institutes.While all roles need good general experience and systematic capabilities, specialisation in one special area , for example coastal management, fisheries biology, mathematical modelling of sea change, ecosytem dynamics or chemical risk assessment, is generally needed for progression in the profession. Classic work activities Work activities could be office, lab, or field-based, including work on sea-going vessels.

* picking up samples and information using processes like coring strategies, GIS systems, visible recording and sampling
* working with PC databases and consultant software to look at information, e.g, to do population assessments of specific species or judge continuing damage to coral reefs in a narrowly outlined area
* preparing detailed reports , for example environmental impact assessments, for agencies, commercial organisations or government bodies, e.g, the Department for Environment, Food & Rustic Affairs ( DEFRA ), or oil corporations drilling on the seabed
* planning systematic experiments, assembling observations and regularly planning and building the correct clobber
* building new research concepts and testing hypotheses
* conducting sea-based sampling and experimenting concerning periods on sea-going vessels
* handling research budgets
* preparing research papers for journals and other expert publications and presenting research discoveries at meetings
* keeping current with new research and technologies and attending coaching courses
* advising on matters like global warming, sea based energy technologies and environmental impacts
