Web designers are responsible for the layout, visible appearance and usability of an internet site.
This role may overlap with that of a Multimedia programmer and web designer. Using a mix of graphic designing abilities and technical awareness of how webpages are made, the work involves :

* liaising closely with a buyer or customer at the design stage and finding the solutions to questions about why the site is required, who the target market will be, who the number 1 rivals are, etc
* making a design that'll be engaging to the target user, has a logical navigation system and has all of the features needed
* writing net pages in a mixture of codes , for example HTML and XHTML, CSS, Javascript, Actionscript, ColdFusion, .Net, Flash, or using code-generating programs ,eg Dreamweaver and Visible Studio
* deciding on how photographs and other material will be digitally optimized and presented for the web
* making certain that material on the internet site is accessible to all groups including those with incapacities
* testing the site in different browsers and at different resolutions
* fixing mistakes.

Web designers will have information of design packages like Fireworks or Photoshop to produce basic layout and manipulate photographs. Talents in e-commerce and server side technologies , for example PHP and .Net, and web security are also significant. As users gain quicker access to the Net through broadband, website designers with talents in multi media and interactiveness are probably going to be in larger demand.
